Operations

What are the operating procedures for running this business?

For movies I get emails about them coming out: whether it is streaming, DVD, BluRay, 4K etc, or if it is coming to the theater, or Hulu, Amazon.  I post what they send as they give what you can write, assets like posters for Pinterest, featured images you can resize, YouTube videos you can embed etc. Then I post them to my Socials and send the links to the HR that sent the email to me.

Then there are ones that send you a "Code" for the movie and you redeem it on Movies Anywhere, watch it, and review it and send the links to the person who sent you the code.  You do not have to do every movie-but do the ones you like.

You can also do giveaways (TallGirlPR) usually sends these and they provide and send to the winners. So you just hold the giveaways--and sometimes or most of the time they offer the movie to you (usually in either DVD or digital code for hosting it).  

For Books:

I have been posting the Press Release with a small blurb at the top about how the book seems exciting then the press release, a link to purchase it on Amazon. ONCE I have the author or the Press place agree to send me a physical book in exchange for the coverage on my site and my socials.  I say if I am able I will read the book and include a review at a later time but I do not promise.  I always include my address when I pitch them for the exchange so they are able to send the physical book without tons of back and forth.

If you were going to keep the site, what steps would you take over the next 3 to 6 months to grow the income and traffic?

I would probably include more reviews on shows I watch on Netflix, Hulu or another streaming service so people might have a go to list of what to watch if they are looking for a new show.

For something to sell possibly do patterns (digitally) for bookmarks that people could purchase to make their own. Or printables for their kids to keep them busy.  Because you can't make Disney characters etc you would have to figure out something else or branch out for something for their Mom's to do to keep the kids busy.  That is where I fell short and have not came up with something myself.

How often do you email your list? Every day whatever is posted is set up to automatically send a full day of posts to my subscribers the next morning.

What is your current open rate and click rate? Well I just looked and it just tells me my unsubscribes and bounces etc. I never realized it didn't give me a combined score just individuals. And I am down to 207 subscribers. I would advise them to use a different email marketing service.
