Q: How much time do you spend working on the site? 

A: Before going back to the classroom, my time was spent in the following ways:

• 3-5 hours/ week: newsletter creation [Take 5 weekly newsletter, Teach Mama's Deals & Steals]
• 5-10 hours/ week: social content creation [photos or videos for YouTube, Facebook, IG, or TikTok]
• 3-5 hours/ week: email management, business management

Q: What is your content strategy and backlink building strategy?

A: My content creation strategy was literally built in the most authentic, honest way: by creating everyday learning experiences for my own children and documenting them on the blog. Early in the game, I realized that if I wanted to stand out in the sea of 'mom bloggers' that I had to do something different, so I did: I established myself as THE teacher blogger who was sharing "insider secrets" of teaching with parents. I was "de-mystifying" the process of reading acquisition and helping ALL parents become teachers for their children. But I didn't stop there--I was helping babysitters, grandparents, caregivers--any person who cared for kids--to learn how to sneak a little bit of learning into the day. I was not only sharing simple, 5-minute teaching strategies, but I was sharing WHY people should listen; I was listing the research-backed article or book where I learned it. I was showing folks that I was the most reliable, research-backed source. Soon valid sources started reading my blog and linking to me, including Scholastic, PBS Kids, PBS Parents, readwritethink.org, NCEA, NEA, and more. I became one of the two writers for Scholastic Parents Raise a Reader Blog, and other valued sites started linking to teachmama.com.

Q: What suggestions would you give the new owner to help grow the site?

A: I would do a few things:

• Create videos from blog posts that do not otherwise have them.
• Use the 100 published seasonal printables in the store as giveaways, freebies, teasers, and promos on social media. Print the products and take great photos and videos of them being used, and promote them.
• Promote the 160+ free printable to grow the email list.
